Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has been nominated for Atalanta’s Goal of the Season award following a stellar campaign with the Italian club.
Ademola Lookman, 27, who was instrumental in Atalanta’s successful season, had two of his goals shortlisted for the prestigious accolade.
His spectacular strike in a narrow 3-2 defeat to Spanish giants Real Madrid earned a nod, as well as his clinical finish during Atalanta’s dominant 5-0 victory over Empoli at the Gewiss Stadium.
Lookman hopes to add the Goal of the Season title to his growing list of personal honours, having already claimed Atalanta’s Player of the Season award for the past two consecutive campaigns.
The Super Eagles star ended the 2024-2025 season with 22 goals and five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Meanwhile, in the transfer market, legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello has urged Inter Milan to pursue a move for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund, 21, endured a challenging season at Old Trafford, scoring only 10 goals and providing four assists in 52 appearances.
The Danish international, who moved to Manchester United from Atalanta in 2023, has struggled to replicate the form that made him one of Serie A’s most promising young forwards.
Capello, speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, expressed his admiration for the young striker and believes Inter should act fast to secure his services.
“The Dane is a dynamic striker, good at exploiting space. Even though he was very young, he impressed me at Atalanta,” Capello said.
While Hojlund remains under contract at United until 2028 and is currently valued at €35 million according to Transfermarkt, growing speculation suggests a summer move could be on the cards, particularly with Inter Milan reportedly exploring options to bolster their attacking line.
Capello noted that Hojlund may not have been fully ready for the pressure at a club like Manchester United but believes he has the qualities to thrive in Italy again.
