The initial group of Lagos State pilgrims who took part in the recently concluded 2025 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has arrived back home.
A total of 423 pilgrims, comprising 179 men and 244 women, landed in Lagos on Tuesday, aboard a Flynas Airbus, flight XY9014.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Dr Jebe Abdullahi, Chairman of the Working Committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Lagos.
Dr Abdullahi described the 2025 Hajj operations as smooth and highly successful, expressing satisfaction with the overall coordination.
He extended appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Amirul-Hajj and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, as well as other key officials for their contributions to the success of the pilgrimage.
“We are deeply thankful to Governor Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy for their consistent support towards Hajj operations in Lagos State,” he stated.
Abdullahi also acknowledged the role of Saudi Arabian authorities, particularly initiatives like the Hajj Pass, which facilitated seamless participation for pilgrims and helped maintain the sanctity of Makkah.
“Lagos pilgrims were accommodated in one of the best facilities available, which positively influenced their behavior throughout their stay in the Holy Land,” he added.
He encouraged the pilgrims to internalize the spiritual lessons of the Hajj and reflect them in their personal, professional, and communal lives.
Dr Abdullahi noted that the 2025 pilgrimage had elevated the standard of Hajj administration in both Lagos State and the country at large.
He reaffirmed the committee’s ongoing partnership with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, and other stakeholders to enhance future Hajj performance.
According to him, arrangements are in place to ensure the safe return of the remaining pilgrims, in line with NAHCON’s repatriation schedule.
