Afrobeats superstar Davido recently honored his late colleague, Sound Sultan, in the music video for his popular track 10 Kilo.
Directed by Director Pink, the video features scenes with Sound Sultan’s portrait as a backdrop, alongside plus-size models dancing in front of it.
Davido’s 10 Kilo, which celebrates plus-size women, bears lyrical similarities to Sound Sultan’s hit Orobo, a song that also highlighted and celebrated fuller-figured women.
In 2013, Sound Sultan released a remix of Orobo featuring Flavour, a track that went on to dominate radio airplay across Nigeria and West Africa.
Since Sound Sultan passed away from cancer in July 2021, numerous Nigerian artists including 2Face, Burna Boy, Spyro, and Sean Tizzle have paid tribute to him on various occasions
