Popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Obi, has showered praises on Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy, describing him as a “huge blessing” and a “great person” who is often misunderstood by the public due to his online persona and controversies.
“Burna enjoys the attention and the drama online,” Obi explained.
“But people don’t really get to see who he truly is behind the scenes. He’s such a blessing and people misunderstand that. He’s just a man that knows what he wants. He’s not going to budge for anybody.”
Obi emphasized that Burna Boy’s tough exterior is often a reaction to the kind of questions he’s asked in interviews, which sometimes trigger defensive responses.
“I feel like sometimes when he gets to talk, people only ask questions that trigger him to show that side of himself… And he enjoys it, to a large extent,” he said.
Reflecting on his personal relationship with the ‘African Giant’ crooner, DJ Obi added,
“He’s one of the best things in my life because when I get that one-on-one time with him and I see him for who he really is, it’s like — he’s a great person.”
He further stated that many people may never get to experience this softer side of Burna Boy, which makes their friendship even more special.
