Chelsea to Submit Formal Transfer Proposal in January for Player Return

According to reports, Chelsea is looking into re-signing Ivan Toney during the January transfer window in an effort to increase their offensive options.
The Football Transfers reported on Saturday, October 11, 2025, that the Blues are putting together a sizable loan offer for the England striker, with the possibility of a permanent move.
Toney may be able to re-establish himself in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the national squad through this move.
Toney, a former striker for Brentford, has been at Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League for a little more than a year after receiving interest from Manchester United and other elite Premier League teams.
Chelsea is willing to pay 70% of his salary during the six-month loan with a buyout option that is part of the proposed agreement.
Having last won an England cap in the Euro 2024 final, the move would provide Toney with the exposure he needs to rekindle his international career.
Even though he has an outstanding record of 38 goals and seven assists in 54 games for Al-Ahli, a move to Chelsea seems improbable due to a number of variables.
With Liam Delap anticipated to make a speedy recovery from injury, the team already has depth in the center-forward position, and his present pay would greatly surpass Chelsea’s wage structure.
In terms of age and style of play, Toney’s profile also deviates greatly from Chelsea’s usual additions.
Prior to Toney’s move to Saudi Arabia, there was interest in him. According to Sky Sports, Chelsea intended to secure a return to the Premier League for about €42 million, but those plans never came to fruition.
For the 2025–2026 campaign, Chelsea has since added players such Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Emanuel Emegha to its attacking squad.
Even if there is still conjecture surrounding the possibility of bringing Toney back to Stamford Bridge, the current situation indicates that a deal is unlikely to occur anytime soon.
