Odumeje slams Nigerian pastors over silence on bad governance

By  |

Controversial cleric Odumeje has taken a swipe at Nigerian pastors, accusing many of them of refusing to speak out against bad governance while benefiting from the same system.

He spoke on this during a church service with his members.

Odumeje chides religious leaders

He criticized church leaders who, according to him, enjoy heavy security protection and preferential treatment from politicians, yet offer their congregations nothing more than stickers and olive oil while avoiding conversations about national hardship.

Odumeje argued that spiritual leaders who mount the pulpit have a responsibility to address the realities facing their members, insisting that silence in the face of worsening governance amounts to complicity.

Odumeje questions credibility of some pastors

He also questioned the credibility of some pastors who openly boast about their spiritual status despite lacking any demonstrable impact in their ministries.
